The 4th industrial revolution is described as the rapid technological advancements in manufacturing led by cloud technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and additive manufacturing (3-D printing). Additive Manufacturing is the construction of a 3-dimensional part made from a computer-aided design. The part is made by depositing layers of metal microns on top of each other and then having the layers fused together by a laser.

The new large-scale printer is calibrated for Inconel 718, a nickel-based high strength, corrosion resistant superalloy which is commonly used to make parts for the aerospace industry.
